At Local Motion Project, our mission is to bring people together in dynamic, collective movement experiences that effect personal growth and social change. We strive to bring diverse dance experiences to our community. We engage with people through education, participation, and observation. We center dance as a vehicle for expression, connection, and human understanding.
Our vision is that everyone has access to dance education in their communities, inclusive of dancers who are diverse in race, gender, age, body type, intellectual/developmental ability, and other aspects of identity.
We strive to remove barriers that harm, discriminate, and exclude. We acknowledge the ways systemic racism, and other types of oppression and inequities show up in the dance field. We are actively pursuing a future for dance education that includes students, artists and educators that are diverse in race, gender, age, body-type, intellectual/developmental ability, and other aspects of identity, who are confident, collaborative, creative thinkers and engaged citizens in their communities and the world.
