So great to see so many of you at our School Social last night! Thank you for coming out and joining us despite the weather! Thank you to our community spirit co-chairs Tricia Holley/Katie Attiken who put together this event, and the many other community events and activities during school year!

Attention Rising 6th Graders

The next GWMS walk through is scheduled Tuesday February 12th at 10am. The Elective Fair is also scheduled on February 12th at 6:00pm.

Prospective families are invited to come meet with the administrative team, learn about various classes, programs and opportunities, and have student-led tours of the building. RSVP is not necessary.

Animal Benefit, April 9th

We are getting ready for this Dr. Zissios favorite! Our annual talent show/fundraiser for King Street Cats and Animal Welfare League of Alexandria. Your children will be getting notices home about auditioning to perform if they would like to participate. For those who would like to join us in our support of this important cause, we are asking you to register in advance to attend the concert/benefit (with a small suggested $5 donation pp) and/or submit a photo of your pet/animal to feature in the program for the night. There is also an opportunity to simply donate to these important causes. Together we highlight this important cause in April as part of our character counts program. Visit

Looking for parent volunteer-3D Printers

Do you have experience with 3-D printers in your workplace? Our new equipment has arrived and our 4th and 5th grade teaching staff is looking for assistance to present to students about the “real world” application of this technology and how it is applied in the workforce. We can work around your schedule. Please email Ms. Murphy,,  if you can spare an hour of your time.

Legislative Affairs

Our next legislative affairs meeting is February 21st at Firehook Bakery at 8:15am. Join this important discussion on our focus with ACPS on; continuing enrollment pressure/growth and need for district planning to address it,  playground renovation and overall facility’s needs.
