It's Time! Share in the dream of a new purpose-built Outdoor Learning Center for LCTA! With our facility bursting at the seams and no room to add on, it's time to make better use of our outdoor space. Never professionally designed or built with the current student enrollment in mind, its layout, surfaces, and equipment are dysfunctional, inadequate, unsafe and seasonally limited. We are looking to extend our learning to the outdoors with a safe, purpose-built, state-of-the-art outdoor learning center and grounds. Join the collaboration of parents, grandparents, staff, faculty, neighbors, and concerned citizens working with ACPS to see LCTA’s outdoor learning environment become a reality. It is time to advocate for our school and our students.

After-School Enrichment Programs Session 2
Our ASP Session 2 class offerings will be sent home on Wednesday January 15. Registration will open on January 21st for PTA members (via email invite) and for all others on January 22nd. Registration is first come, first serve! PLEASE NOTE: ASP is NOT open to Kindergarten students this year. Classes will begin on Tuesday February 18.
Do you like Singing? Acting? Dancing?
Then you should consider auditioning for our Spring Musical! This spring Lyles-Crouch students will be working to put together a production of The Aristocrats. The performance will take place on Tuesday March 31st, at 6:30pm. This performance will serve as this year's fundraiser for the Animal Welfare League and King Street Cats. Auditions will be held on Tuesday January 14th. Students from 2nd grade to 5th grade are welcome to audition. All audition materials were sent home with students prior to break and can also be picked up in Ms. Seto's room. Forms must be signed and returned by January 10th.
NOTE: with participation in the Spring Musical children should not sign up for a Session 2 ASP
Animal Crusaders Towel and Blanket Drive
After the holidays, Animal Crusaders is doing a towel and blanket drive to benefit the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria and King Street Cats. During the winter the animals might be cold so we want to keep them warm and dry to help them toward their future homes.
Please check your closets, and bring any towels or blankets you no longer need to school and put them in bins in the lobby by January 17th! We thank you for helping homeless animals and giving them a new start in the new year!
Join the Special Education Committee for a meeting on January 10th at 8am at the Firehook Bakery
The Special Education Committee of the PTA engages with the LCTA community to increase disability awareness and explore ways to better support LCTA's students receiving special education services and their families. In addition to developing specialized programs and support networks for these families, through outreach and education, the Committee strives to further foster a culture of inclusion, mutual respect and understanding for all within our LCTA community.

Will your child be starting Kindergarten next school year? Join us on Tuesday, January 14 from 9-10:30am for a special Kindergarten Open House and learn more about what to expect in Kindergarten at LCTA. We will begin with a brief overview of Kindergarten in the Multi-Purpose Room, followed by a school tour. If you or someone you know has a child starting Kindergarten in September 2020, please join us for this special event!
1st Grade Teacher Appreciation Breakfast - Wednesday January 15th
Each month the PTA sponsors a breakfast for our teachers at LCTA. This month, the 1st grade will host the breakfast. Please sign up for what you can bring! Items need to be delivered to the office the afternoon before or before 7:00 am on the morning of the breakfast. Thank you so much!
Parent Social - Wednesday January 15th
Join fellow LCTA parents, staff and Dr. Zissios for a LCTA community social at The Warenhouse (214 King St) on January 15th, 6-9pm. Appetizers and light fare will be on us!
Blessings in a backpack Food Drive - Week of January 27th
Help stock the school pantry by donating food items needed, sponsor a child by writing a check or donate a grocery store gift card and we’ll do the shopping for you! We will be outside of school each morning at drop off this week with collection bins. Students may also earn ROARS community service hours by supporting Blessings in a Backpack this month.
Do you love science and want to give back to the LCTA community?
The Science Committee is looking for adult community members to present hands-on science activities at Science Night from 6:00-7:30 on March 19, 2020. If your work or hobbies involve science or technology please consider volunteering your time! If you are interested, fill out this form.

Now there are 2 ways to participate. See https://www.boxtops4education.com/ for all the details.
OPTION 1:Download the ALL NEW Box Tops app (find it on the Apple App Store or Google Play). Shop as you normally would, scan your store receipts and the app will automatically credit LCTA! Super easy!
OPTION 2:You can still clip and send Box Tops in! The physical Box Top clips will be phased out, but we can still send them in as long as they are not expired.
LCTA receives checks twice a year! Last year we earned almost $500. How much more can we earn this year using the new option?
