5th Grade Promotion Week!

The teachers, class liaisons, and PTA are working hard to plan meaningful and festive
ways to celebrate our 5th Graders as they wrap up their elementary school chapter at
LCTA. We hope the final week of school sends them off with fond memories,
cherished friendships, high spirits & high hopes for what is ahead.

June 9

Community Celebration/ End of Year Picnic (School-Wide)
5:30-7:30 PM
LCTA Grounds

  • Bring your own picnic-style food. We are hoping to have a dessert food truck

  • Enjoy closing the school year with friends, fun times, & music

  • Bring the whole family

  • This is also a chance to say thank you & goodbye to Dr. Zissios

June 12

5th Grade Promotion Ceremony with Guest Speaker Rodney Lusk

9:00-10:00 AM
LCTA Multi-Purpose Room

  • Students wear their uniforms with the provided LCTA shirt (a special thanks to our parents who purchased these for the entire grade!) Shirts will be sent home with students on Monday, June 6

  • There is no reception following the ceremony, but students will have t-shirt signing and yearbook signing in school following the ceremony (students only)

5th Grade Pool Party

1:00-3:30 PM
Little Hunting Park Pool (7000 Canterbury Lane, Alexandria)

  • All 5th graders are invited to a pool party (there will also be volleyball and basketball)

  • This is not a school-sponsored activity

  • Every student must have a designated chaperone (it is acceptable for one chaperone to take responsibility for a group of students, but parents must pre-arrange this amongst themselves)

  • No more than one person (adult) to accompany each student (so as to not exceed lifeguard capacity*)

  • Carpools are fine, but again, this must be arranged in advance amongst parents

  • If your child is not a strong swimmer, you must be in the water with your child

  • Party ends promptly at 3:30

  • If you are a current member of LHP, please use your member number at check-in (this will allow for the pool charge to be non-members only)

  • We ask that chaperones help manage and facilitate the party and stay for clean-up

  • What to bring: Bathing suit, towel, sunscreen, water bottle, shoes for sports (optional), money (optional) for snack bar

  • Optional: We will have a designated tented picnic area for our group, so if you’d like, please bring treats, sides, drinks to share (store-bought, individually packaged)

  • We want as many of our 5th graders as possible to participate in the pool party, so if there are
circumstances preventing participation (financial, logistical, childcare for other children, etc),
please let your classroom liaison know.

  • Please use the following link to RSVP by May 27:
