LCTA eRoar, April 29, 2020

The information overload is real my friends! I feel like I am constantly trying to find a way to organize all the information. But reiterating what Dr. Zissios said, Stop. Take a deep breath. You’ve got this. You are NOT expected to do it all.

Where did I put that Art Zoom info? or Library Google classroom code?

I will try to have the most up to date information here and we also keep all of our past eRoars online: LCTA PTA Latest News

Baroody ASP

For those who enrolled in the Spring Session ASP’s, there are three options available to you for the cancelled classes: You may request a refund, donation, or credit (credits should be requested only for Baroody summer camps, Baroody online classes, etc...but not for our ASP program for the next school year, as we are unsure at this point what we will be offering). Please contact Baroody with your preference: email Baroody.

Yearbook

2019-20 Yearbooks will be delivered to our school at the start of the 20-21 school year. A process will be in place for families who are no longer at the school to pick theirs up. For those who have moved out of the area, we will ship them. We will not order many extra books, therefore yearbooks will need to be pre-ordered.

ORDER NOW for $30.

(Staff members, please email me, in order to reserve your yearbook, there is no online payment option for the $20 price)

With several of our beloved events not happening this school year we would love to add a learning at home section to our yearbook! Please email photos of your students learning at home and any special projects/creative activities to: lctayrbk@gmail.com

(please remember to send photos in the highest resolution possible for optimal printing)

Activities with Mr. Abed, Ms. Curtis, Ms. Kay, and Mr. Rutchauskas

We are attaching some May activity calendars that we thought might be fun to use at home. There is a Math activities calendar, a Science scavenger hunt calendar, a reading challenge calendar, a fitness calendar, and a Lego activities calendar. We tried to make the activities accessible for K-5, but there are activities that you might have to modify. They do not have to be done every day or even in order. Feel free to repeat activities that your family enjoyed or skip around the calendar to pick activities that look like the most fun! I have posted several skill packets for basketball, soccer, and volleyball through the Lions Tales that can be used for the fitness calendar and there is a list of online resources if you need to find a kid’s Yoga video or family fitness video. These are just options for mini activities to be done during our period of social distancing. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions. We hope you enjoy them! Mr. Abed - peter.abed@acps.k12.va.us Ms. Curtis - alethia.curtis@acps.k12.va.us Ms. Kay - karrie.kay@acps.k12.va.us Mr. Rutchauskas - jason.rutchauskas@acps.k12.va.us

Library with Ms. Knoll

Join Mrs. Knoll in her Google classroom for stories and activities. Currently she is reading James and the Giant Peach, by Roald Dahl. If you'd like to follow along, her Google Classroom code is cjtx6oz.

For kindergarten, first and second grades, Mrs. Knoll has a read aloud on Tuesdays and Thursdays. These can be accessed through the Lion Tales, or from Mrs. Knoll at brigitte.knoll@acps.k12.va.us.

Art with Ms. St. Louis

Starting THIS week I am rolling out a new style to the Art Zoom schedule. The grade level times have not changed. What I am trying to do is allow for more opportunities for students to join more Zoom Art classes. if they desire. I know you all have complex schedules and sometimes can't make it to the one meeting per week. This new schedule style should allow for more flexibility.

I have indicated which grade levels I will be gearing my lessons for, but that does not mean a student cannot attend a session higher or lower than their grade. Please be respectful and responsible and remember that I cannot admit a student into a Zoom meeting without proper identification ie "Awesome Me" is not someone I can admit. And as always these meetings are voluntary and not required. I love seeing everyone and I miss you all very much.

If there are any questions please feel free to email me: marisa.stlouis@acps.k12.va.us

Take care and keep on creating!
